Iron Ore is an early-to-mid-game resource for crafting sturdier items. You can mine it or process garbage to obtain it.
Where to Find Iron Ore
Iron Ore becomes available after completing the Withered Wasteland story. Raise humidity, rescue Onix, and rebuild the Pokemon Center. Two gates then unlock: one to Rocky Ridges, one to Bleak Beach.
Rocky Ridges (Mining)
The most reliable method. Head to the caves in the volcanic region. Iron Ore blocks are dark grey with metal shards visible. Use Rock Smash to collect the ore.
Some Iron Ore blocks are too tough to break normally. Eat a Hamburger Steak to boost your power and smash them.
Bleak Beach (Garbage Processing)
Trubbish converts Nonburnable Garbage into Iron Ore. To attract Trubbish:
- Build a Trash Collection Site Habitat (Waste Bin, Sign, Garbage Bags)
- Use the existing Sign and Waste Bin behind the Bleak Beach Pokemon Center
- Craft Garbage Bags at the workbench using 1 Nonburnable Garbage
- Place all three items together
Give Trubbish your Nonburnable Garbage. He processes it into Iron Ore over time.
Process Iron Ore into Ingots
Iron Ore requires a Smelting Furnace. Find one in the tunnels or craft your own using 4 Stone and 4 Iron Ore.
- Place the Smelting Furnace
- Add Iron Ore
- Bring a Burn specialty Pokemon (Torchic, Charmander, etc.)
- Wait for smelting to complete
- Collect Iron Ingots
Iron Ore Recipes
